Ben Fuchs

Senior Consultant, Leadership and Organisational Development
The King’s Fund
Ben Fuchs is a Senior Consultant at The King’s Fund. He has been a practicing psychologist for over 25 years. He has particular interest in developing systems leadership in health and care. He works with hospitals, clinical commissioning groups (CCGs), community services, sustainability and transformation partnerships (STPs) and integrated care systems (ICSs), and health regulators to improve quality and collaboration across boundaries. He specialises in working with leaders and organisations facing strategic, financial and cultural challenges - often within a pressured environment of complexity and uncertainty. His work aims to help leaders to clarify the key issues, engage in crucial conversations, surface and resolve conflicts, build trust and increase agility.

Prior to joining The Kings Fund, Ben was faculty with Ashridge Business School’s NHS consulting practice. Ben has also worked in the corporate sector and in international development, leading conflict resolution projects with former adversaries in Nicaragua and Northern Ireland.

Ben holds a Masters degree in counselling psychology and post-graduate level professional training in coaching, facilitation, conflict resolution, appreciative inquiry, Harvard negotiation and supervision. Publications include: Do you have advantage blindness (Harvard Business Review), Can we talk about power?, and Working with fear and anxiety in healthcare. Ben is currently researching the dynamics of ‘speaking truth to power.’

The King's Fund

The King’s Fund is an independent charity working to improve health and care in England.

Our mission describes how we will achieve this:
  • through our research and policy analysis
  • through the work we do with individuals, organisations and communities building their capability, supporting them to adopt best practice and share learning
  • by bringing people together through events and networks to discuss and learn from evidence from the United Kingdom and across the world
  • by promoting greater understanding of health and care policy and practice – helping people to make sense of a complex and rapidly changing environment.

Verto

Verto is a fully configurable work collaboration and programme management service with 100,000 public and private sector users. Verto provides collaboration, performance planning, portfolio, project and programme management and a full PMO solution. It supports shared service and transformation programmes, grant/bid management and a range of business processes across multiple organisations.

Locum's Nest

We are not an agency! Locum’s Nest is the staff bank management app created by and for doctors. Our software connects healthcare professionals to vacant shifts in NHS Foundation Trusts, GP Federations, Primary Care Networks and practices. The multi-award-winning technology revolutionises the formation and maintenance of staff bank, meaning an ever-increasing pool of local, highly qualified staff constantly at the Trust or practice disposal. This leads to consequential savings and significantly increased shifts fill rates of over 95%, four times higher than the national average of 24%. We are currently working with 200 healthcare organisations across the country, with over 25,000 doctors on the app and have matched over 125,000 shifts to date which represents 1.5 million hours of patient care delivered by non-agency doctors.
